Taphouse, Copenhagen: Sixty Ways to Stay Past Midnight

Taphouse sits in plain view near the city hall, big and confident, with a row of street seating along the sidewalk for watching Copenhagen pass by. Our timing was unfortunate and the construction site on the street stole the show.

So we went inside.

Two floors of seating, and below the bar a few cozy hidden cubicles for when you'd rather have the evening to yourselves. You can even peek at the keg storage through the glass, rows of steel feeding the taps, which is a fun little bonus most bars keep out of sight.

The taps are really why you come. The list is huge, running from crisp lagers to heavy stouts and pretty much anything in between. Whatever mood you're in, something on that wall will match it. Getting bored here is simply impossible. The staff knows their way around the list too, so when the choice gets overwhelming, just ask. They pour you a sample on the spot, and you know where you stand.

Best part: it stays open late by Copenhagen standards. Our last serving landed just before one in the morning, and the place still had plenty of life in it. A place you'll want to come back to often, whether you're settling in for the whole day or just after a nightcap before the city closes.
