Battery Steele sits in the shade of bigger neighbors. Allagash on one side, Foundation right next. You could walk past it.

Inside it is not that small. The tasting space and the working brewery are very close though. We sat next to a row of bourbon barrels and watched the mechanics of the place run a few feet away.

This is what a microbrewery felt like before. No partition between the people making the beer and the people drinking it. Once the brewers clock out, Sophie runs the whole place herself. Pours, tabs, manages the floor, all of it.

We did not come in any hurry. We came to sit with the beers and pay attention. The room gives you space for that.

Absolutely worth the stop by, Fumes are great, so is the calm vibe.
