Remmarlöv Gårdsbryggeri
Local and family-owned farm brewery
When we somewhat suspiciously ordered The Jeenius IPA, we did not expect it to kick off an exploration tour of this kind. Sweden, despite its very protective alcohol sale and consumption rules, completely astounded us.
Among the many local beers we tried (and all of them looked great and tasted at least very good) one lineup stood out: the beers from Remmarlöv Gårdsbryggeri, a fifth-generation family farm brewery in Skåne, southern Sweden.
While everything we tried was great, two stood out big time: Sonoma, their West Coast IPA, and Couch & Pillows, a hazy DIPA. Both have amazing designs, and once you taste them, you would expect the brewery to be in Oregon or Maine, not rural Sweden.
We fell in love, and on our way back we decided to visit the place — but unfortunately we only had a Sunday and hit closed doors.
Fun fact: Generally, we could communicate in English everywhere and felt confident, but at the brewery there was only one person around, and we got the message that language can still be a barrier … we couldn't quite understand each other :)
We will be back. The place and the products are totally worth many more tries.
