Belleflower Brewery
Flowers and room to think
Belleflower holds down its corner of it with a barn-hex logo that you read, long before you taste a thing, as flowers and spring. The whole place runs on that note. The staff meets you with a warmth you had not expected.
The beers we tried keep the promise the logo makes. Fresh, floral, with a soft bready backbone. We worked through the IPAs, and they earned the room: Scrugsy and Into the Kaleidoscope, both scoring consistently high, for us and for the wider community alike. Crisp, fresh Scrugsy carries so much fruit that it leaves room for the bitter finish to land. Great beer.
The taproom is generous, and the selection is well-crafted across more than just the hop-forward end. There is care in it.
The lot out front is huge, and on its own, it does not pull you in the way the room does. But that is Portland: working blocks, plain frontage, the good stuff waiting just inside the door.
The logo and the tin tacker share the same spirit, and the flowery vibe carries through. It works.
A place we would come to sit with our own thoughts more than with friends. It inspires, it brings fresh ideas.
We enjoyed it exactly that way.
